Celebrating 70 Years!
BOCCIA Waterproofing and Masonry Specialists
In 1955, President Eisenhower was in the White House, the Brooklyn Dodgers played the New York Yankees in the World Series and Marlon Brando’s On the Waterfront swept the Academy Awards. It was around this time when a young union bricklayer named Ray Boccia, who only recently immigrated to the US from Italy, decided to go out on his own from the trunk of his Dodge. Within a short number of years, he made a name for himself in the industry through hard work and a determination to do things “the right way.” These principles laid the foundation for the future of BOCCIA Waterproofing and Masonry Specialists.
Ray passed these construction traits to his sons, Frank, Joe, and Vincent, who carried the baton of the Boccia name. In the 1980s, key personnel joined the family business: Senior Construction Manager Mauricio Duraes and Office Manager Stacy Moskowitz, who have now been with the company for 40 years and counting. Ray, Frank, Joe and Vincent would go on to complete thousands of projects, garnering a unique combination of experience and knowledge that is unparalleled in the industry.
The company’s workmanship has withstood the test of time, enduring 70 years of storms – from Hurricane Gloria in the 1980’s to Hurricanes Irene and Sandy more recently. Their expertise has been essential in protecting numerous homes and buildings against the increasing frequency and intensity of storms.
At the turn of the century, the company’s specialized expertise was called upon for the restoration of Long Island’s historical landmark – the Jones Beach Water Tower. Not long after, when water intrusion and mold was uncovered in all 20 buildings of a new residential apartment complex that replaced the Roosevelt Raceway in Westbury, the development relied on the expertise of Frank, Joe and Vincent for their consultation in remediating and waterproofing each building – a project that took two years to complete.
Recently, Vincent’s eldest son Michael, an experienced engineer as well, joined the team to further strengthen the future of the family business.
As the company celebrates its 70th year in business, BOCCIA is grateful for the values instilled by its founder, Ray Boccia, who believed in hard work and doing things the “right way.” BOCCIA upholds these beliefs on every job site – and will continue to do so at the beginning of a new decade in business.
