The Power of Monolithic Waterproofing for Commercial Parking Garages- by Frank Boccia, Professional Engineer

When waterproofing a commercial parking garage deck, long-lasting durability is everything. Stripping the existing asphalt topping and old membrane reveals the bare structural slab. From there, the key to premium protection is a uniform, liquid-applied approach.

By fabricating base flashings using a three-ply system-layering rubberized asphalt, polyester fabric, and trowel-grade rubberized asphalt-you create a monolithically cured system. This method is incredibly durable because it eliminates lap joints and seams that inevitably separate over time. Applying polyester fabric into the drain details and continuing the liquid-applied system ensures that once cured, the entire surface is completely seamless.

After laying down protection board and paving the new asphalt traffic surface, the deck is fully shielded. We’ve trusted and refined these uniform waterproofing methods for decades to solve complex commercial water problems safely and effectively.
